In the early 70' to 80's you could consider $1 as your hourly working wages, working for 8 to 10 hours a day and bring home $8 to $10 dollars. But 20 to 30 years later the day that you worked for, is the day that pays for your basic foods. Its bad enough to say that one working day would not pay for a full tank of petrol, as we don't think twice about the burning our hard earnt money by stepping on the gas pedal.
Serving the old and saying thank you, it is hard to see this happen to them but you might not have thought of it until know. They might not tell you because they would want to take it off their minds but surely they are thankful for your services, making them happier and by provide some comfort.
Could it certainly be that the amount you earn now at $16 dollars per hour would be the cost of providing the basic food to keep you alive in 20 to 30 years from now? Is this your point of your recession for savings?
